The consolidated statutes and regulations from the Canada are updated weekly by CanLII, from the Justice Laws Website, maintained by the Government of Canada.
Constitutional Acts
The Constitutional Acts database contains point-in-time versions of the Constitution Act, 1867 and the Constitution Act, 1982.Consolidated Statutes
The consolidated statutes database contains point-in-time versions of the Revised Statutes of Canada, 1985 (RSC 1985), several chapters of the annual Statutes of Canada (SC) as well as a few chapters from the Revised Statutes of 1927, 1952 and 1970 (RSC 1927, RSC 1952, RSC 1970), starting on January 1, 2003.
These versions are "in force versions", that is, versions of the text as it was legally binding during a certain period of time.
CanLII refers to these statutes:
- By the chapter number of the RSC 1985, as for example: Legislation Revision and Consolidation Act, RSC 1985, c S-20;
- By the chapter number of the RSC 1927, 1952 or 1970, as for example: Canada Corporations Act, RSC 1970, c C-32; or
- By the annual chapter of the SC, as for example: Farm Credit Canada Act, SC 1993, c 14.
Annual Statutes
The Annual Statutes are a collection of Acts in the form in which they were originally assented once enacted by the Parliament of Canada. They include new Acts as well as Acts that amend existing consolidated Acts, starting on January 1, 2001.
CanLII cites these annual statutes by the annual chapter of the SC, as for example: An Act to amend the Income Tax Act, SC 2016, c 11.
Consolidated Regulations
The consolidated regulations database contains point-in-time versions of the Consolidated Regulations of Canada (CRC), 1978, orders and regulations enabled by a consolidated statute (SOR) as well as other statutory instruments (SI), starting on March 22, 2006.
These versions are "in force versions", that is, versions of the text as it was legally binding during a certain period of time.
CanLII cites these regulations:
- By the annual SOR number, as for example: Military Police Professional Code of Conduct, SOR/2000-14;
- By the annual SI number, as for example: Canadian Passport Order, SI/81-86; or
- By the chapter number of CRC, as for example: Canada Grain Regulations, CRC, c 889.
